The idea of Brandable – an independent agency that champions inclusion in brand communications – brewed for years before coming to fruition.
Brandable was founded by Tess Palmyre, a proud Afro-Creole Australian woman of colour. Born and raised in Seychelles, she immigrated to Australia at the age of nine and has lived most of her life on Noongar Country. Her professional expertise lies in brand strategy, management and communications, with lived experience of being in a minority group that is historically underrepresented in media and communications.
Tess is also an educator, a musician, an executive committee member of WAMA (WA Marketing Association) and a foster mum of two young Noongar girls. She started Brandable to drive more diversity, equity and inclusion in brand communications, media, and the WA marketing industry.
Tess started the Brandable journey with long-time friend, colleague and creative whizz, Kristian Lawrence.
Kristian was born and raised in Boorloo (Perth) by parents who taught respect for all cultures and ways of life. He has a passion for all things design, from web design to woodworking and architecture, which he studied at university. His approach to design is unique, with a laser focus on how people interact with and experience his work. This, combined with his empathy and curiosity, is the perfect complement to Tess’ skill set, background and lived experience, equipping the Brandable team with the tools and traits needed to do this important work.
Tess and Kristian met in Boorloo and worked together in the not for profit, health and education space for five years before starting Brandable. They are down-to-earth straight shooters that are naturally inquisitive and continually pursue different perspectives.
Tess and Kristian live and work on Whadjuk Noongar Country. Diverse communities are what they know and love.
